Further Study on Who Christ Is

The Bible clearly sets forth Jesus as the divine, eternal, Son of the Living God. Christ is a member of the Godhead and was involved in the creation of the universe with the Father and the Holy Spirit (Gen. 1). When man sinned against God by violating His word, God set in motion the divine plan to send Jesus Christ into the world to provide salvation for those willing to accept Him as Lord and Savior (Gal. 4:4-5; Eph. 1:10; 2 Tim. 1:8-10; Tit. 1:2-3; 2:11-14; 1 Tim. 2:3-6; 1 Pet. 1:18-21). There is no other avenue, or way of deliverance from our guilt of sin, than through the Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel (John 14:1-6; Acts 4:12; 1 Cor. 8:5-6; Rom. 1:16- 17; 2 Thess. 1:7-9). As we have seen in the passages already given, Jesus is the Head of the church, which is His body of redeemed people. He is the only Head of the church of the New Testament. There is no other head, as far as the inspired Word of God, the Bible, is concerned. Jesus is to be acknowledged by all who wish to please the Father. We can confess Him in this life to our salvation (Rom. 10:9-10), or we will be forced to confess Him at the judgment to our damnation (Phil. 2:5-11). This is a serious choice, indeed, for each of us to make. Choose carefully!

When Jesus comes again (Acts 1:9-11), the dead will be raised (John 5:28-29) and all will be judged (2 Cor. 5:10). Thus, all are accountable to God and will either receive an eternal reward or suffer eternal punishment in the last day (Matt. 25:46; John 6:44-45; 12:48). It would be wise for each of us to carefully consider, in the light of God’s Word, just what our relationship is with the Lord, and make our calling and election sure (2 Pet. 1:10-11).
