What is Salvation?

1. Salvation begins with the understanding that we have been created by God for His glory, and that all souls belong ultimately to Him. Genesis 1:26-27; Leviticus 10:3; Psalm 100:1-5; Ezekiel 18:4.

2. But all have violated His will (revealed in the Bible, God’s Word) and are thus sinners in His sight. Ecclesiasts 7:20; Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:14; 1 John 1:8-10.

3. Salvation (the forgiveness of sins and eternal life) is found only in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. John 3:16; 14:6; Acts 4:12; 13:38-39; Romans 6:23; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 2 Timothy 2:10; 1 Peter 1:18-21.

4. Salvation is for those who “obey the gospel” and remain faithful to the Lord. Romans 2:8; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; 2 Peter 1:5-11; Revelation 2:10.

5. Salvation is available to all who are willing to come to the Lord, on His terms that are revealed in the gospel. Acts 10:34-35; 1 Timothy 4:10; Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 22:17.
